    GS550 twin carb airbox repair

After discovering that the airbox on my '83 GS550L was deformed due to the previous owner overtightening the clamp for the carb boots, I was faced with a problem. The bike will not run properly with the box in this condition, and it is a major pain in the ass to remove and install a new one. I did not want to mess around with pods, because I am trying to get it as close to 'stock' as my limited ability will allow. A couple pieces of aluminum strapping, vise clamps, and a hairdrier allowed me to fix it. I Hope the pictures might help anyone with the same issue.

good job. not to difficult to do and much less expensive than a new airbox.

Thanks fellas...if I could have just figured out a way to work duct tape into the repair, it would be the perfect fix...

The cover for my air boxes are warped, as well as my tool tray. I've considered doing the same thing to see if I could get it back into shape. Thanks for the post.
