stripped exaust bolts
i didnt notice untill my head was finished but 3 of the exhaust stud holes are really stripped. Looks like po snaped off old ones redrilled off center and retapped it. leaving ovel holes with still stripped threads. Is there a easy fix for this. i think they need to be filled and drilled and taped, welding mite warp the head that has allready had $1000 work done on it. dont know if there is a epoxy out ther that would work. Am I screwed?Tags: None

You should be able to use some kind of helicoil kit. That will work. A lot of people on here seem to prefer a "thread sert" (I think I got that right) as it doesn't come out again.
Do a search, quite a lot of info on this on the forum.1980 GS1000G - Sold

As long as the helicoil is bigger than the extremes of the oval then you shouldn't have a problem.
The hard part will be drilling them back straight.
Those bolts are not meant to take a lot of torque, I believe the book value is 12lbft so it's not like you are putting a helicoil in something under high tension.1980 GS1000G - Sold

actually i think the drill size is 9mm so it depends on how "oval" your holes are, but it should be ok
i know this is UK ebay but this is what you need.........
