Clutch cable=jumpy
old clutch cable broke while I was riding. Put a new one on and put oil down the cable housing and it worked for a while but now it is sticking again which makes the clutch jumpy upon release of the lever. anyone know any tricks to fix this? I just want a smooth operating clutch..Tags: None

It's a very good idea to replace the clutch lever along with the cable.
The hole where the end of the cable goes often wears into an egg shape, which grabs the cable end and flexes it back and forth until the cable breaks. The cycle simply repeats itself if all you do is install a new cable.
Until the new lever arrives, take the old one out and put a dab of grease on the cable end.
Also OEM Suzuki levers are much better quality than the imitation Motion Pro crap and cost about the same, maybe a buck or two more.
You might look up the part number at http://partshark.com and visit your local Suzuki dealer to order if you don't want to pay shipping.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

I like white lithium spray grease and bel rey 6 in 1 oil
together it is slippery, I use a combination under the twist grip too.
check your pivot bolt at the lever - grease it. get the dirt all out of anything that moves. over grease it all and clean after reassembly.
routing is very important and there is a big pay off if you try every route to find the best operation when your bike is at full turn lock in both directions.
any way inspect for grooves and wear marks on lever perch. kinks in the cable routing thru the headlight area. smooth sloping curvves not kinksSUZUKI , There is no substitute
