    what's in your tool kit?

I don't travel too far but still would like to carry a small tool kit for any roadside repairs. What simple tools and/or spare parts would anyone recommend to have with them for short (200 miles or less) trips?

    Thanks for your thoughts!

see if you can find an OE tool kit for your bike. They come up on ebay usually for about $40.

They're still available new for some models. This was discusssed pretty throroughly a year or two ago. I can't remember exactly the name of the thread, but it was similar enough to this that I thought someone had resurrected it. If you can find that thread, you'll get a ton of great ideas.

If I am taking the Wing, the only "tool" I need is a credit card for more gas.

If I am taking the GS, the kit varies depending on whether I am going by myself, going with others, or if there is a chase vehicle capable of carrying THE toolbox.

I would just copy and paste from the old thread, but I'm too lazy to look for it. Here's some of it:
A full set of metric combo wrenches (ratcheting and standard) 9mm-17mm, full set of 3/8 and 1/4 sockets, metric and sae with ratchets and extensions (Craftsman), screwdrivers, feeler gauge, allen wrenches, tire repair kit, 12 volt compressor, pretty much almost anything I need to do repairs on the road just short of an overhaul.

I like to bring tie wire. It doesn't get used that often, but its cheap and way better than duct tape to me.
