I get the pipes hot, spray WD40 on a rag, and rub the shoe goo right off, it may take a few tries but it works awesome ! Steel wool, and razor blades will SURELY trash the chrome finish !

Come on now, you wouldnt take a cutie for a ride with some nice 4" heels oh her boots?

BTW I finally cleaned the mess off of my pipes, I just used a brass wire wheel and called it good enough. It was the least of my pipes issues anyways.

I have used 0000 grade steel wool successfully, for years. It will not harm the chrome, and will remove stuff that is stuck to the pipes very easily.

Balled up alu foil works well. All the little sharp edges will scrub damn near anything, including rust, off the chrome but not damage it, as the alu is softer than the chrome but harder than the rust/shoe goo/ whatever. 0000 steel wool works, but is abrasive enough to do some damage to the chromes clear coating, effectively dulling it if used too much.
