    Ideas for bar-end mounting

Anyone have good ideas for securing bar-end weights, sliders or mirrors? The devices that come with most of them don't work too well. I've seen some guys use rubber expandable bolts or steel masonry expansion anchors.

I've got one bike with cheap a 7/8" drag bar and another with a Renthal Ultra Low bar (1/2" ID).

    What's your experience?

I've never had trouble with the Motrax bar-end mirrors I had on my bike. Perhaps a layer of electrical tape, or a strip off a beer can, would make a good shim?

I have the Ken Sean bar end mirrors from DK

The expanding rubber grommet they use holds very well and they don't vibrate at all.

I used some really cheapies from an ebay seller. Didnt use the lame mounting crap they come with and mounted them dirrectly to the ends of the bars. Ya have to cut the grips and throttle tube so bar ends will poke out just enough to mount the mirror.
          Cheap and easy!

I bought a set of these on Ebay. The link goes to a rather unreliable seller (first time I have left a Neutral feedback for someone). But - I have several bikes with bar-end mirrors and these are my absolute favorites. They mounted very easily, and look great when actually on the bike. Adjustment is really good inside that chrome housing and the quality is great. There are several Chinese sellers and a couple of US sellers of these. I have only one mounted on my GS850 for aesthetic purposes, and frankly the field of view is so good that I haven't felt the need to add the other one. I'll probably put it on another bike shortly.

I weld nuts into my bars. Ive started making weld nuts on the lathe at work (ill look for a picture) and just TIG them in. The newer ones Im thinking will get a set screw hole drilled and tapped with a ballend grub screw.

Something like this is easy to buy from McMaster-Carr and will weld in nice.

Here a shot a a set of $12 bicycle mirrors by Third Eye that I use.

The actual mirrors in them are as clear as the Napoleans I've had before. They stay snug and I can see past my elbows.
