    Best way to pollish motor

We recently bought a 1982 gs850l. The clear coat on the motor is bad. I need to remove it and polish the engine. Any tips.

The clear coat on the stator and clutch covers (also front forks) can be removed with paint stripper and then sand the covers with wet-and-dry paper starting with about 200 grit and going finer and finer. Polish with buffing wheels and rouge to obtain the degree of shine you want. The cylinder block just has silver paint, which should be prepared by degreasing and scrubbing very well to remove all oil. Respray with high-temperature silver paint.

If you use the word "polishing" in the Search box, you will get many posts on this subject and many photos showing just what can be done.

Put up some "before" and "after" photos of your progress!
