    I was just thinking.....

would it be wise to crimp the fuel line during non use periods on these Suzuki's with the petcocks that can't be shut off?

Maybe sandwich the line between a couple washers and use some needle nose vise grips.

    Just an

A wise man would do just that and use a brake line lock type of clamp that will not crush the line.

Nothing wrong it.....in fact, it is brand new. I have just read posts about the fuel funneling into the engine, as they sit for long periods.

Thought it might be a good preventitive.

A good working petcock won't leak so if it does you have issues or left it on prime.

Theres this really expensive Pingle inline vac operated shut off..

Remove fuel line from petcock, insert appropriate size bolt into said fuel line?

This comment has made me consider that I may not know exactly how this wonderful petcock, without a shut off performs.

If I yank the fuel line, won't gas come out? If not, I guess Frank's suggestion would be acceptable, unless the petcock fails, then you have a different problem of 5 gallons of fuel on your floor. Unless you run another line from the petcock to a gas container.

My thought of crimping the line seems to solve all possible issues.

If you have a functional vacuum-operated petcock, then pulling the fuel line will not leak any gas, save a few drops on the line side. The tank should leak nothing.

If the petcock is running properly, only the vacuum from the carbs will pull fuel from the tank in the On and Reserve positions.
