    You can buy gas and oil resistant cork gasket material at many of the major autoparts houses if you need to fabricate a "franken"/thicker gasket. As others have said, I would only do this if you absolutely can't fix the root cause of your problem!

    Check the surface with a straight edge, both petcock and tank. Or as previously suggested pressurize the tank and use a paintbrush to put some soapy water on the petcock to find out exactly where it's leaking.

      I just bought some to transfer my pingle to some new bodywork I just bought.

      1985 GS1150ES stock with 85 Red E bodywork.
