front master cyl. sight glass
Is there any repair that can be done on the brake sight glass? mine has the looks crispy like the PO cleaned with something that damaged it. Or thirty years of sun?Tags: None

Some have found a properly-sized watch crystal and glued it in place.
I have used some 1/8" Lexan that was cut and filed to shape, then epoxied in place.
Whichever way you go, remove the old glass, clean the area IMMACULATELY. If using epoxy, have your new glass ready, mix the epoxy, lay a bead in the edge of the hole. Set the new glass in place, spread a bit more epoxy around the edge, then let it set overnight. After the epoxy is fully set, go ahead and fill the master cylinder, bleed the brakes and go for a ride.

Need to do this on mine. Someone posted about using craft mirrors and sanding them down to the correct diameter.

Just call me the grave keeper as I'm just digging up the past...
My question is this on an 82' 850g I'm replacing the Mc sight glass there is an o - ring where the metal (we'll call it cateye) sits behind the glass. But the o - ring is too big for the cateye. Was it for an assembly that contained the cateye and the glass? Do I need the o - ring anymore? Also I just read a post earlier today about a watch crystal failing how is the lexan holding up.

If you search fleaBay for Suzuki Brake Sight Glass you'll find tons of listings for a kit that works perfectly for around $10 - $12. It's a sight glass (actually, plastic) with a metal frame that presses in with an o-ring, just like OEM.
It's a very tight fit -- DON'T try to hammer it in per the instructions. Press it in with a big c-clamp or something similar.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.
