    Reverse Part Number Lookup

I was wondering if someone could tell me how the reverse lookup procedure goes. I was thinking that people on here had mentioned being able to look up a part number to see what other models it was used on, but no combination of search terms has lead me to a post about how to do it.

For instance, I am looking for turn signal lens 35612-49230 and I am able to find it by searching for my specific bike, and I am able to look it up by that number and get a price, but I am trying to expand my search to include other models for a used replacement.

I have checked all the usual suspect parts sites, but either none of them offer this (not surprising, since that could only cost them money) or I am not able to find them on their site.

Has anyone been able to find something like this? Am I just blind/missing the obvious? Did I make this functionality up?

    Thanks for any help,
    Chris

go to special tools on the top line menu, then in the drop down box, click on "partfinder:all

type in your part number and it will bring up all the models that part number relates to.

What I do is to, open 2 windows with Alpha spors home page on them. theres a serach box at the top centerish portion of their home paqe.

Next i search for a part to a known bike..like the one i am working on. take the part number from the fiche and paste it to the search box on the second home page and hit search. A list will appear with all the bike that took that part number.
        MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
        1978 GS 1000 E, 1979 GS 1000 S, 1973 Yamaha TX 750, 1977 Kawasaki KZ 650B1, 1975 Honda GL1000 Goldwing, 1983 CB 650SC Nighthawk, 1972 Honda CB 350K4, 74 Honda CB550

NEVER SNEAK UP ON A SLEEPING DOG..NOT EVEN YOUR OWN.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

          Awesome. Thanks, guys!

I hoped I wasn't making it up. If I forget again and can't find this post, I don't deserve to buy parts.

More of a cross reference than a reverse lookup.
