when I removed the kreem liner from my tank I used acetone and wrapped the tank so it wouldn't leak on the outside... no such luck...had to repaint the tank outside too.

I spilled some brake fluid on my garage floor that had an epoxy coating on it one time, and with in a matter of minutes it had begun to peel the coating off the concrete. Might help if it is an epoxy liner.

Wonder how this turned out, it's a common problem. New tank?
You said at first MEK "substitute", don't know what that is exactly. I've used straight MEK to dissolve Kreem with no problems.

REAL MEK is no longer available. The new stuff has the "known to California to cause cancer" stuff that actually made it work removed. Basically its MEK thats been neutered.

Kreem is a far cry from Caswell or POR15 too.

Acetone will take about anything off. I know it makes creem fall apart quickly. The only thing about acetone is that it will evaporate faster than MEK.

I did not realize that MEK had been neutered and changed. Does that mean the vintage gallon I have here from ACE Hardware is rare and collectible?

Agree that Kreem sucks, and doesn't begin to compare to Por15.

You can still get real MEK. It is not readily available to the public, we still can purchase it for our shop. As a matter of fact we just received a 45 gallon drum last month, a life supply!
