Bolt Identification Resource

This probably falls into the "General Shop Knowledge" category, but for those of us who do a wide range of projects (including GS work) Bolt Depot is the best source of fastener info I've ever come across.

The page of printable fastener tools alone makes it valuable, but I'm interested enough to read about all the different types so I know the right thing to ask for at the hardware store when I come across a new fastener puzzle.

May be old news, but I just discovered it today. Enjoy!

Those are "Oval" heads" ?

I ended up just using stainless hex flat heads on my cam cover caps, which I was somewhat surprised to find at the local Ace. I have an idea that I can use my float glass to eventually polish the flat head to a mirror shine.

Edit: "float glass" is just a piece of plate glass that I attach sandpaper to for polishing machined surfaces on smallish parts, like when I'm rehab-ing hand tools.
