Hey folks - when you're taking pictures especially on a bright, sunny day with lots of shadows - use fill-in flash. Try it. On a bright, sunny day, take a photo without flash and then take the same shot with the flash turned on (not auto flash but "On"). You'd be surprised by the difference. Be sure to avoid straight on shots of highly reflective areas like chrome and such. What you're trying to achieve is show the details usually hidden by dark shadowing created when your camera meters the light for an exposure under very bright conditions. The fill-in flash will illuminate those areas and give your pics some pop. very helpful when posting pics of your bike for sale.

Absolutely right. I took this evening shot and the crappy camera wanted no flash due to reading the sky.

Also if the lighting is a little weird and you're shooting digital (like who isn't except maybe ColoradoCJ) look at that thing called a histogram and then adjust the exposure (slight overexposure) to move or push the histogram to the right or white side. You can even push it far enough to chop some of the white highlights, your shadow detail will love you for it. If the picture looks too bright you can fix it later but a least you'll now have more detail to work with. Also most new smartphones and some cameras have a great seldom used or understood feature called HDR. Another trick is to autobracket your exposure and use layers in Photoshop...more work, but a quality effect. Works best with a tripod.'83 GS650G

And for Craigslist photos, it helps to have fresh dog waste to smear on the lens. Try doing jumping jacks while snapping the shutter, and be sure to 'bracket' the motorcycle with scrap lawn chairs, dead lawnmowers and a few spent liquor bottles.and God said, "Let there be air compressors!"
