Second during removal i have the front upper motor mount stuck with one of the bracket still on the motor. This bugger is stuck and not moving. I've been spraying PB blaster on it for 3 days with no success what so ever. Options?

Cleaning the motor and Motor mount bolt stuck
Good morning Gents. I'm trying to clean a motor on a 1978 GS750 i scored recently. This thing Is being a pain. I've got most of the grease off but the impurity's in the fins are driving me crazy. Anyone have any tricks and tips to smooth the metal and have it look somewhat new? I'm at the point of attaching a wire wheel to a drill and going to town.

This is the end result after doing the Marvels treatment, degreasing and power washing, and repainting the engine for my 77 KZ 650B1 project.

Oh wow! Good work man. I'd post pictures but Photobucket is down. I've got a good amount of the gunk off but the oxidation on the bottom and the fins is not budging. I will give this a try. This bike sat for 5 years and was clearly neglected. My buddy said you can't turn a whore into a house wife so this whole project is to prove him wrong. For $250 purchase price i had it running the first day. I'm only a week into the rebuild with the bike stripped and almost ready for the powder coater.

To clean the fins I used a scotchbrite pad wrapped around a paint stick. To get into the little crevices I whittled the paint stick down a bit. You can use different grits of pads depending on how bad the tarnish is. It took about 4 hours to do the entire engine the first time. Every year I go over it again quickly with a fine pad to keep it looking clean. Patience is the key here. I have not used Marvel's or POR as they are not available locally but I hear they are good products.
