    Shorted Sending Unit Fix

    If you ever have had the insulation rub off the wire that passes through the bracket youll need a fix that stands up to gasoline. I found that the red straws from carb spray work well. Unsolder the wire from the base and feed it back to the circuit board. Clean all the crud off the wire and stick it back through the bracket. Now slide the red straw over it and heat it with a lighter to bend it pointing at the post it was previously soldered to. Trim excess straw and resolder the wire to the connection point.

    I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

      Steve..my thinking was that if carb spray doesnt eat the plastic then surely it will withstand any gasoline its dipped in.

        Very good thinking. I might have come up with something similar, but have not (yet) had the problem, so have not been forced into the research and experimentation. Thanks for blazing the trail and posting the results.

          The cloth like wrapping on mine had worn through thus the need to find a suitable covering that gas wouldnt eat.
