Good modern tire size option for GS650G?

Hi All,

Making steady progress on my GS650G revival, I'm ready to order up some tires for it. Front seems straightforward: 100/90-19. Now for the rear, I see many people relent and simply install a wider 130/90-17. This gives the widest range of options and per my understanding should not have any clearance issues. Having said that, is there something out there that will be closer to the original 4.25-17? I'm trying to the best of my abilities to keep this thing as close to new-original-oem as possible. I'm finding the front Roadrider MkII quite sure-footed.

Ah excellent, I had actually just stumbled upon these as well. I mentioned 100/90-19 in the first post but I think I'll actually get 90/90-19 (that they conveniently also offer these Avons in) as that is much closer to OEM 3.25-19. I want to keep the lighter steering nature of this middleweight bike intact.

I ended up ponying up for the Avons to get that "right size," about $100 more for the pair than the Shinko 712s I've been throwing on all these other GSes, but I know Avons are a very high quality tire (although I have zero complaints about Shinkos over the years as well).
