Okay gentleman the vtr stem is too short and the stem is welded in . iI can grind off the weld and use a press at work to insert the kat stem .The Katana lower is wider and would need a bushing made for the stem to fit in the vtr upper . I might go the route of bandit 600 upper and kat lower and figure out spacing of brakes .lol or some one mentioned they had an e triple tree off 1100 i believe are those 41mm tubes ? the current l front end single disc is not 41mm. i shall contemplate this .

Thanks for fork tube info, stem on vtr is too short. so back to bandit upper might be able to use stem out of current triple.LoL this has become a project. But i will know what works and keep track of it . to possible help someone late. I have owned a hawk and very familiar making front work.

But of course, the fork spacing has to match up too.Last edited by RichDesmond; 01-18-2023, 05:18 PM.'20 Ducati Multistrada 1260S, '93 Ducati 750SS, '01 SV650S, '07 DL650, '01 DR-Z400S, '80 GS1000S, '85 RZ350

Okay gentleman here is what i have found easiest superhawk fork conversion. 1# is to use 82- 84 gs 1100 gk triples a bolt on . minor spacing on brakes , . # 2 bandit upper 01 bandit 600 upper with 99 -06 750 lower katana this option requires some spacing in stem. area . all the input was greatly apricated . onto next area complete engine tear down lol.

Okay guys after extensive work here what i ended up with 1200 bandit front end min. machine work .To make triple tree bolt on, then modified for rear bandit 1200 rear swing arm. Will now have 17 ich wheels (good tires obtainable) . also, this is a 1979 gs 1000 L. so in am researching rake and trail of the gs 1000 standard model . I believe someone here mentioned the L has 1 degree more rake so i will use longer rear shocks. the motor is almost finished will post pics soon. any comments are welcome.

That said, what matters is trail, not rake. What is the offset difference between your old triples and the new ones?'20 Ducati Multistrada 1260S, '93 Ducati 750SS, '01 SV650S, '07 DL650, '01 DR-Z400S, '80 GS1000S, '85 RZ350
