Rebuild kit unobtanium???
I have searched Ebay, Z1, Sirius Consolidated, George Fix and a few others searchig for a front master rebuild kit for a 80 GS1000S. Its the one with the square plug with an oring and a seal around the plunger shaft. Anyone have a source or maybe the KL Supply kit number? I cant tell if vits leakingbfrom the oring or the cup seal or from both. Anyone know what other models use this style piston?

What happeed to the 10 picture allotment like before? Anyway the piston slides throught the assembly. Also has anyone sucessfully soaked these seals to swell them up?

Partzilla shows the 'related fitment' and rebuild kit part number (sadly not available though). Maybe will help with your search.

I have plugged that number in many sources amd nothing found. My thought is wonder if a regular gs 1000 kit will work in it.Any S model owners have info?MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would find a master cylinder that worked and was more available, I'd try to get one with a remote reservoir. Some of these old brakes are, well, old, in every sense of the word.
This kit says it covers yours bike.

I'm Going by the information you DIDN"T put down.
You should post "1980 Wes Cooley GS1000S" front master rebuild kit. I was a Parts Manager at a Yamaha/Suzuki decision from 1978 thru 1983.
This one on EBAY is specifically listed for your bike. If you say it's wrong, I would really like to know why, just to know (learn). Just trying to help.

It is mentioned in the first post AND theres a post with pictures... When you look at compatable vehicles listed it say 1982 1000S. NOT 1980. So the 82 S model is a Katana not a Cooley.Last edited by chuck hahn; 01-25-2023, 08:28 AM.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Chuck. Am I missing something? This is from the ebay link in post # 9 from Suzukian. However, the square piece you show in post # 1 does not appear to be shown in the pics on this ebay listing. So.. idk.

I have searched many models and years to see what guts they use and so far ive come to dead ends.Rich and i discussed and came to the conclusion that the 80 850G has the same bore and is a dual disc bike so im going to rebuild the one i ordered. BUT n the interum ill still look for the cooley kit if it takes a year for one to pop up on ebay. Then if one ever shows up his OEM master can be rebuilt and put back on... or be ready if he should choose that route.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Why not pull the seal off a different 5/8" bore master and put it on your plunger? Regarding the O-ring, measure the size and then check McMaster? There are O-ring materials that resist brake fluid. Maybe you will get lucky and find the right size.Ed
To measure is to know.
