YSS rear shocks for '79gs1k
I got it apart anyway maybe i buy my Xmas present early. I pretty much decided on YSS rear shocks but they have several models and hard to get in the USA.. thoughts on the value to going with their more expensive shocks? And what about international ebay vs buying from their USA distributor (I have one about 1.5 hrs from me...)1979 gs1000e (everyday) 1977 gs750 for sale

Decent shocks make a difference… the best serve to show up the front end though - you should upgrade to cartridge emulators on the front as well.1980 GS1000G - Sold

Yeah at that weight you want the 0.9's I think. With the cartridge emulator you don't need to be "over sprung" to prop up the front end during braking etc. I used to run 0.8's at about the same weight but it was a little softer than I would have liked.1980 GS1000G - Sold

I have fully adjustable YSS on my 1000G. They pair nicely with the emulators. I don't regret the spend even slightly. Everything cheaper was just the shock version of a simple damper rod fork. Drilled holes in a piston. Too harsh when they need to be compliant, and too mushy when they need to be firm. You can definitely spend more than you will for the YSS, but they are the most cost effective step up onto the next level of shocks that I could find.
I have YSS RG 362-235 TRCL, independently adjustable compression, rebound, preload and 10mm of length.
Not sure those dimensions are correct for the chain drive. Call the American distributor. They'll ask some questions about you and the bike and how you ride. They'll configure the shock's internals for you. Don't try to order from a catalog.Last edited by Dogma; 10-09-2023, 09:07 PM.Dogma

I went with Racetech .9 a few years ago, should have gone with 1.0, maybe even 1.1. 165 lbs at the time.

YSS was on my short list, back when I was looking to buy for my KZ750. They have a distributor here in the USA, but they maintain a very low profile.
There have been a few members here over the years with their shocks, and I've never read a bad review.Ed

I have two gs1000 with YSS rg362 shocks, one set bought from a UK seller and the other set from a friend, really decent shocks for the prices, fully adjustable, rebuildable.I would buy another set if needed.

I went on the YSS website and they list only the economy shock and the Z series shock (just rebound damp adjust which may mean compression and rebound single damp adjuster). The 335mm G series shock comes up for a gsx14 which is never heard of but I guess I will email them to verify the range of damping with the G series shock will cover the appropriate spring rate.1979 gs1000e (everyday) 1977 gs750 for sale

I measured mine. It was on the upper end of what was acceptable hence my recommendation to go up to the 0.9. I try not to run too much preload if possible. Always better to get the right spring rate, preload is just a crutch really1980 GS1000G - Sold
