    brake help

    Hi All,

I have just got to the brakes on my GS1000g Project and had a few problems with bleed nipples siezed etc. so after buying a new caliper and tapping the other i put new pads in. I bled the back brake fine.

The front brakes have never had any fluid in them when I got the bike and the brake lever didnt have anything.. no resistance but I put this down to their being no fluid in it.

I have put some fulid in it, but the brake just doesn't pump anything. I have a feeling that the brake master cyclinder may be goosed.

I'm not sure how to check as it seems sealed. Does the brake lever push some sort of piston within the master cylinder? I can see a pad that looks like it would do this, and tried to push it with a screw driver but its' going no where.

Also their are two wires on the bottom...anyone know what these are for ?

Is it a case I need to buy another one? does anyone know if any other gs models may fit .. just so I have more to search for.

Any help much appreciated on this money pit project!

Keep bleeding and bleeding the brakes, if they are new it will take some time to move all the air through. It may seem like nothing is happening but eventially they will grab. If you have access to mighty vac its a breeze. I broke down and bought one...worth every penny.

Yes the lever pushes a piston.

Put a long hose on one of the caliper bleed nipples & suck hard whilst pumping the lever... or get a mighty Vac.
