Rear Shock question "red lever ?"

I recently bought a box full of parts for my '82 GS1100EZ. In the box was two rear shocks, they look exactly the same as the original ones except they have a red lever. Can anyone tell me what this red lever does !

    Thanks

It's probably a preload adjuster with a lever on it...

Looks like a handle for adjusting the preload. Swivel down to horizontal & then use it to pull the adjuster round probably.

First one I've seen like that.

The Katana I saw at the VJMC show in MN this past weekend had something similar too. I'd never seen one either.

That is the ejection lever. It is electrically connected to the horn button. If your passenger is extremely stupid/annoying, simply press the horn button. Voila, issue resolved.

              Honestly, that is odd.
