HELP! Rebuild Frnt Master Cyl GS1000sz

The local Suzuki shop couldn't rebuild my frnt master cylinder. They only have knowledge of the new bikes. Here is what they said:

    1. They could not get the rebuild kit to fit properly. When depressed it would "catch" on something.

    2. They said the piston fit "loosely" like there was too much clearance. (I smoothed the bore with 600 grit sand paper and emory. Did I remove too much material?)

My bike is a low mileage bike. The front master cylinder was operating fine. Like an idiot I decided to rebuild it while I was restoring the rest of the bike. Now I am screwed. You can not buy new master cylinders.

    WHAT DO I DO?

Avoid that shop like the plague, go to cliff's site, get a proper service manual and read the section about your brakes.

      I concur .
You now know why most of us avoid them like the plague .
When I was a lad they were mechanics and could fix anything. Now they call themselves "technicians" and they can't do $hit if they can't plug a compewda into it .
I doubt you've done damage to the cylinder . A manual and genuine parts will see you right . All is not lost , especially with a magnificent beastie like that .

      Cheers , Simon .
