    ok, I need help

The MC on my bike is not a GS850 original. It looks like a Yamaha MC. I need a new diaphram for it due to the old one being swollen up. The MC looks beat up but works great.

The dealer no longer can get one and bike bandit does not sell the MC either. So I am left with finding out which MC this one is so I can get a diaphram for it.

on the oposite site is 5/8

Master cylinders don't have diaphrams. Are you talking about new piston seals? At any rate I'm not sure what that thing is off of so sorry, can't help.

The metal coverd ones do, its a thin sheet of rubber that seals in the brake fluid and still allows for pressure changes.

Funny, it looks just like the one on the '81 1000G I am working on, but I looked it up in the fiche and it did not match.

OK, a little more searching and I found that the two-screw lid started in 1982 on most models.
The part number for the diaphragm is 69667-49300, it is a whopping $5.10 at Babbitts, might be less at other places.

A reverse search on the part number shows that it showed up in '81 on some of the L and T models,
then appeared in '82 thru '85 on virtually ALL models from 450 thru 1150.

Apparently, the '81 1000 I am working on might be one of the last ones, and it got one of the '82 master cylinders.
