    how much fork oil

    I need to know how much oil to put in my forks. the forks are from a 1980 gs550l

        That fill amount is with the forks completely dry, so if you only drained the forks, they'll be overfilled by some unknown amount.

        It's far more accurate and important to set the fork oil LEVEL exactly the same in both legs.

            Excellent! Sometimes the manuals don't give a fork oil level measurement.

            It might be helpful for someone else if you could post the fork oil level you get (springs out, forks collapsed) once you've measured in the right amount of oil.

                geometrically speaking, is there any reason the distance measurement would be different between straight up and down, and installed, if one was measuring on the very left or right side of the fork tube?
