Tire sizes, and recommended CHEAP tires -- 82 Suzuki GS450E

    Hey there,

Looking to get the tire sizes for my 82 Suzuki GS450E. I'm at work and can't get back to my garage to look. Figured I would ask about the sizes here and see what people recommend for CHEAP! I'm down to even run Cheng-shen or whatever that cheapo Chineese brand is. It just needs to roll!

I use Shinko tires. Not sure what sizes yours takes as mine is a GS850G. Both front and back for about 100.00. Tires wear great and have excellent traction. Even in the rain I have no problems.

I have put 2,856 miles on 'em and keep the tire pressure at 28F 40R as the vin sticker states to. I have lost 1/64" of tread since new, heck the sides still have the nipples on em.

Now some will state that Shinkos are to cheap to be any good, but I disagree strongly. I have never had the tires break traction on me, even with the bike layed over enough to scrape pegs the tries have stuck strong.

    Good luck with your search.

      Hi,

I think I'd go with a 90/90-18 on the front and a 120/90-18 on the rear. Then see the Tire Vendors information on my little website to start shopping around. Use the forum's search feature to find out all you ever wanted to know about tires but were afraid to ask.

      Thank you for your indulgence,

I'd do 100 front and 110 rear. Shinko 230. Good tires.

I just put on a set of shinko 230's on my GS1100E, just for a try out. Half the price of avon's. $120 vs $250. Only 200mi. Felt good. I'll have a better run down in 3,000mi.
