Master Cylinder Piston Removal

So after much cussing, hitting, and throwing of large metal objects I managed to get the circlip and washer out of the hole for the piston on my master cylinder. However, I cannot get the piston and cup to come out. I am on my way into town to get some PBlaster since I've only been using WD40. Would soaking that area for a couple of hours help loosen it up to slide out? I'm thinking with all the corrosion and gunk that maybe it's stuck.

Your trick wasn't working for me, had to use a screwdriver and hammer to get the washer out.

Submerg it completely in PB Blaster, I ended up replacing mine. The thing is even if you get it out there is a good chance the bore is pitted with rust. Probably why it wont come out. But give it a try PB is good stuff.

I had one like that and grabbed the plunger with some pliers, pushed it in as far as possible, and yanked it out as quickly as possible. It took a few of these shock treatments but eventually the plunger came out. And I agree with Joe, check the bore carefully for pitting in the metal.

You can use hydraulic pressure, use the banjo bolt and the front brake line, connect your front master cylinder to the rear brake's master cylinder. Make sure there is no air in the system. Then step on the rear brake. The pressure from the rear cylinder will push the piston out of the front cylinder. Brake fluid may spray out in most any direction, better use the eye protection.

Thanks all. It's been soaking for an hour now and nothing is moving. I'll give it until tomorrow morning first and see what happens. If not, I'll let it soak till I get home and then probably just start looking for another front MC.

TKent, I'd try your idea but I already took everything off to include the rear MC.
