Years ago someone had a thread about having done it. IIRC they used a watch crystal. I don't remember the details or how it's held in place though.

I have used a piece of Lexan or acrylic for the repair. Go to Lowe's or Home Depot, ask for a small piece that has broken off in their cutting area 1/8" thick works best). Cut it to the approximate size, then file or sand it down to final shape and size. You actually want it just a bit smaller than the hole. Mix up some 5-minute epoxy, lay a bead around the ledge on the hole, set the new crystal in place, fill in around the edge to assure a good seal (this is why you want it a bit smaller). Even though it's "5-minute" epoxy, allow it to cure overnight, then put it back on the bike and fill it up.
