    82' GS1100E - Damper bolt removal question

Re-doing the fork seals...Anyone know what size the damper bolt is on the inside at the bottom of the fork?

I've searched and tried the threaded rod/jammed nut and the reversed spark plug socket trick but both are too big and won't fit down to the bottom of the fork tube. The 1/2" or 19mm nut won't fit all the way down.

Suzuki says in the service manual, a special tool with attachment "D" but there is no size given so that I could make my own tool.

    Thanks!!!

on my gs1000 the factory manual say to use the attachement D.
I have made a tool to do the job and it use a 19mm/3/4'' nut.

I use the reversed spark plug socket myself, but many members here have used the end of a wooden handled broom stick jamed inside...

Yes and use an impact wrench to spin out the socket head bolt.

Ok stupid question....does the homemade tool go to the very bottom of the fork tube(through the damper)? Or is it just hitting the top of the damper inside the tube?
