Rear brake hose change, 750

Hi,
Ive ordered a braided hose for the rear, & should have it in a day or so. Is there anything I should watch out for when I go to replace the old rubber one? Any tips would be great.

I cant wait to see if it will improve it. And Im going to do the same with the front in a few weeks.

I built my own with parts from Earl's based on the guide on this forum. I completely removed the metal section between the two rubber lines and installed one braided SS line from the MC to the caliper. I can't say if it improved braking because I had never ridden the bike before the swap.

The swap was super easy and I can't think of anything that would give you trouble. I would recommend, however, disassembling & inspecting/cleaning/(rebuilding if necessary) the MC & calipers while you've got the lines off (I was surprised at the crud that can accumulate in there). It's nice having the peace of mind that comes from knowing that every component of your brake system is in good condition.

I've got the parts to do the front, but still haven't had a chance to do it. I've got the single disc up front, so I'm removing the junction between the top and bottom lines and running one SS line from the MC to the caliper up front too.

One complete hose is the way. Use small pieces of fuel line at the frame mounting points to protect the hose

Cover any exposed painted parts, brake fluid loves to remove paint.

Agree with tearing down the caliper and master first. Unless the brake fluid has been changed every few years there will sludge in the system.

Well, job done on the rear. And what a difference! Alot more stopping power back there. The only thing I found awkward was the holding clip on the frame under the swingarm support bar. Did a bit of a strip, clean and bleed with really great results.

Now I cant wait to get a the front lines at the end of the month.

The rear braided hose I ordered on ebay came the perfect length, and with two rubber sliders on it that clip into those little metal frame brackets for a nice safe fit.

I went for a yellow coloured line, yes you might think it strange, but I plan to paint my GS yellow and black over the winter.
