Brake upgrade for '78 GS750C using OEM Suz parts?

Fellas, looking to upgrade my single disk, wire wheel equipped 1978 GS750C. I have researched the two disk upgrade, and got some excellent (thanks Suzuki Don! ) info, pics and advice on using the EX250 calipers and such....

Have decided that this is not the route that I want to take as I'd like to keep the bike looking (period) stock if possible, keeping the single setup while at the same time improving the braking. Are there any newer year GS parts that will retrofit to my stock, single disk forks? Better caliper, drilled disk?

I currently have a Honda CBR600 (2003-2006) front master cylinder that the PO added along with the stock GS750 caliper, and stopping is decent, but feel is non-existent. I am guessing the piston is a bit too big for the single setup and might have to go back to the stock one.

    Thanks for any help.

Salty_Monk (Dan) is the GS brake upgrade guru. You might want to drop him a PM and search the forum for details on what to do to upgrade your brakes. There have been lots of different threads on this topic.

Adding a disc from a later single brake bike, and caliper from any 1980 or later big GS with some modern pads would be a great improvement.

No where near as good as a dual brake setup, especially Salty Monk's, but a huge improvement.

Do you know if the later calipers are a direct bolt-on (and if so what ones) or if they will need a bracket?

        Thanks.
