Rear Shocks
So I took some time today to work on the bike and removed the sprockets. In the process of getting the back tire off I also removed both shocks. On the left hand side though I found this spacer that wasn't on the right:
According to the parts fiche it doesn't show up:
Any idea why the spacer could have been there? Is it necessary? If so, why isn't it on both sides?

That is normally placed there to align the top eyelet with the bottom eyelet of the shock. If you look at the fiche, the left side has 2 #9 and 1 #10. That is most likely #10.
If you look at the right side, it only has 2 #9. Sounds like #9s are thin and #10 is thick.

That makes sense Koolaid. Sure doesn't look that big on the picture though and the parts diagram says it's a WASHER (12.5X24X3.2)
Is the 24 than the width of it?Cowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace

Those measurements are metric, 12.5mmx24mmx3.2mm.
Do you have a metric or SAE caliper? You could measure it and find out.
If not, you could gestimate it with a ruler or measuring tape.
In SAE or English it would be .49"x.94"x.13"
Best of luck.

Are you sure it's not the bushing that goes inside the rubber grommet on the shock?

It looked to be about the right size, so I had to ask.
