Progressive springs for my 80 1100L
I'm looking at getting progressives for my bike but dont see anyone that sells them for my bike. The closest I can come to my bike is for an 1100 E. Will these work for my bike or am I just screwed.?I didnt do it I swear !!

Hi,
Well, I would hazard a guess and say the 11-1107 would work. You'll have to use the proper spacer length to adjust the sag.
You can also check with Sonic Fork Springs to see if they mention something specific for your bike.
But before you spend your money, let's hear from some 1100L owners who have done this upgrade.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff

Working on more forks, I see.
I looked up the springs' Suzuki part number at Alpha Sport. Copied and pasted it into bike Bandit's part number search. Fits machines:
1979 Suzuki GS1000LN
1980 Suzuki GS1000GLT
1980 Suzuki GS1100LT
1981 Suzuki GS1000GLX
1981 Suzuki GS850GLX
1982 Suzuki GS1100GLZ
1982 Suzuki GS850GLZ
1983 Suzuki GS1100GLD
1983 Suzuki GS850GLD
None of which are listed by Progressive. Slackers. When I put Progressives in my '80 850 GLT, someone told me to order the springs listed for the 850 GT. I did, and the stock spacers happened to work out just about right.
Dennis Kirk says Progressive 111107 fits:
- 1980 Suzuki GS1000G
- 1981 Suzuki GS1000G
- 1982 Suzuki GS1000S Katana
- 1980 Suzuki GS1100E
- 1981 Suzuki GS1100E
- 1982 Suzuki GS1100E
- 1983 Suzuki GS1100E
- 1982 Suzuki GS1100GL L
- 1983 Suzuki GS1100GL L
- 1983 Suzuki GS1100S Katana
- 1985 Suzuki GS1150E
- 1986 Suzuki GS1150E
- 1984 Suzuki GS1150ES
- 1985 Suzuki GS1150ES
- 1986 Suzuki GS1150ES
- 1983 Suzuki GS750S Katana
- 1979 Suzuki GS850G
- 1980 Suzuki GS850G
- 1981 Suzuki GS850G
- 1982 Suzuki GS850G
- 1983 Suzuki GS850G
That's just the Suzukis. I see these two lists have the '82-'83 1100 GL in common. I'm thinking that's your part. At worst, you might need to go get a longer piece of PVC tubing. What all these bikes have in common is similar weight and Ø37 mm fork tubes. That should be about all that matters, but I'm not willing to personally guarantee they'll work.
Do you have plans under way for the shocks too?Last edited by Dogma; 02-14-2011, 09:40 PM.Dogma

#2 Yesterday, 01:27 AM BassCliff Well, I would hazard a guess and say the 11-1107 would work. You'll have to use the proper spacer length to adjust the sag.
I have the Leak Proof Pro Moly type fork seals and have had no problems with them. I just put some fork oil on the seal, tube and also where the seal contacts the tube and pushed them in gently with just enough force to get the washer and retaining clip on. Do not pound them in, that seems to tear them or crush them and cause leaks. They like to "float" slightly in the fork, I have over 10K on one set and they have been fine. I would buy them again.82 GS850L - The Original http://s224.photobucket.com/albums/d...ePics067-1.jpg
