    Possibly Stupid Question.

Forgive me in advance if this is a real stupid question.

I'm about to order new tires for the GS1000S, but I'm not sure if the rear wheel is the stock one or not. The rim measures exactly 3" rim-to-outer rim as such:

What size rim is that for tire ordering purposes?

It should be 18" WM3 width

Limit your tire width to 120
    1978 GS 1000 (since new)
1979 GS 1000 (The Fridge, superbike replica project)
    1978 GS 1000 (parts)
    1981 GS 850 (anyone want a project?)
    1981 GPZ 550 (backroad screamer)
    1970 450 Mk IIID (THUMP!)
    2007 DRz 400S
    1999 ATK 490ES
    1994 DR 350SES

Not such a stupid question. If you don't know, you simply have to ask.

That is not the correct way to measure the wheel. You must measure on the inside of the rim, not the outside.
Based on your 3" measurement, I would say it's no more than 2.5", maybe even 2.15". If that is a front wheel, it might even be 1.85"
Since you still have a tire on there, it's hard to measure, so just read the letters that are embossed on the spokes.
Probably somewhere near the valve stem, and only on one side, but they will be there.

Thanks, I loved the wheel over, but couldn't find anything, it's the rear wheel, btw. Will look again.

Found it! The inscription is on the hub, behind the rear disk, so hard to find. It's a 18 X 2.15 as you suspected. Thanks again, Steve.

Darn typing self correct feature on my 'puter has a sense of humour.

Yeah, I love the bike, but I only meant to "look" at the wheel.
