    Thanks SVSooke,
What is better for a sporty non aggressive style of riding (130-190lbs) ? straight-rate or or rising rate ?

      I'd go straight rate.

I logged into their website and all models have various springs with various settings of kg/mm ranging from 0.8 to 1.10.
        Which should I choose ? "sporty non-aggressive mode" ...
Also, Price is for a pair ?

        GSX750 Katana - 0.85kg/mm Sonic Springs $79.95
        GSX750 Katana - 0.90kg/mm Sonic Springs $79.95
        GSX750 Katana - 0.95kg/mm Sonic Springs $79.95
        GSX750 Katana - 1.00kg/mm Sonic Springs $79.95
        GSX750 Katana - 1.10kg/mm Sonic Springs $79.95

Cartridge Emulators should help the fork a lot too....

Shock is a SHOWA off a Ducati Monster 900. You need to use the stock spring unless you're a monster! It doesn't have the remote adjustment. Rides better than stock for sure.

You have to relieve the casting split line on one end to make it fit (remove 1mm of material maybe for clearance, not a lot).

You also need a couple of washers for the bottom end.

              Which year Ducati monster ?

On the stock I measured 325mm from hole to hole.

              This one is 12'' (304mm).

This one the picture shows 330mm

Come to think of it...Is it wise to put a 10 years old shock ?
Why not buying a new one ?

YSS makes reasonably priced shocks that are high quality. Their shocks are even getting more expensive as their name grows. Works Performance and Hagon both make shocks for these bikes.

I bought the 50$ monster 900 from ebay.
Rich from "sonic springs" is doing some calculations for me and I'll buy his springs for the front end.

How heavy are you? Stock spring run at full preload on the Duc shock is about right for me. A little on the stiff side. I am 165lb.

Should be fine at full pre-load for you then. From memory I am running the damping about halfway through it's adjustment. 10 clicks I think. It's a bit tricky to get to it to adjust after fitting, you might want to look at fitting it both ways (you can fit it either way, with the adjuster 45 degrees to front or 45 degrees to back) to see which gives best access. On mine it didn't matter that much.....

Based on the recommendation of Salty monk I purchased a used rear shock from a Ducati Monster 900.

"This came off a well running, 2000 Ducati Monster M900 with 17,184 known miles on it"

There is a motorcycle workshop near my house owned by an ex Paris Dakar participant with golden hands. He said he can take care of my Ducati 900 shock and replace it's oil for 130$.
Assuming everything is now disassembled would you do that ?
A rear shock that ran 10 years on a street bike needs maintenance ?

I didn't.... but mine was off a very low mileage bike as well. I would put it on, see if you like it first.
If the $130 includes supplying & changing the seal & filling with Nitrogen again then that's a pretty good deal I would think (but I'd still give it a go first).

When you take the spring off you'll be able to check:

                              a. damping & adjustment is working fine (with the spring off)
                              b. it's not leaking

This is one of the options for the rear shock

                                --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'86 and '87 GSX-Rs have the same type ends on the shock. The spring rate would probably be too light, but adjusting preload should take care of that. Not sure of the length on them from eye to eye though.
