78 GS750E rear rotor identification???
This is installed on my rear, I'm wondering if someone can identify it and know of a place where i can get a disk made for it? I head the old one machined and it warped after the first use.

that wasnt my question. I'm trying to upgrade my brakes from something other then stock. the rear rotor on a stock 78 GS750 is a non vented rotor IIRC, i want to go to vented/x-drilled rotors. and thats what i have in the rear, except the disk is warped, if i could replace the rear disck (just a disk and not the head) that would be perfect. so thats why im trying to find some info on this or a place that would make me a rotor for a reasonable price

im not an expert on motorcycle brakes but generally vented rotors are installed on cars and consist of two plates with vents in between those do get warped the most as they wear down. bikes come with solid rotors that sometimes are drilled and/or slotted, yours are drilled. from what i know it is almost impossible to warp a solid rotor simply because two pads squish a solid plate and there has to be tremendous pressure to compress steel to warp it. from my auto experience i know that drilled rotors have only one three benefits better bite, more cooling surface and when wet they bite faster than solid ones but there are disadvantage as well less mass to absorb the heat, faster wear on rotors and pads, lots of brake dust and noise. this should be true for high end performance parts if you just buy a solid rotor and drill it there will be zero data on how it actually performs except your own butt dyno.

Some of the later Suzuki rotors are drilled/slotted but I'm not sure they would interchange. You could always send your current rotor out to have it flat ground - there is a company that advertises on ebay that could do it for you. I think that's your best bet unless you are willing to spend a bunch of money.Ed

Dodik, thank you:-) sorry, cross drilled was what i meant :-) i dont care that much about life expectancy and/or noise as much as i care about being able to stop, i just put all new EBC pads, in the next few weeks ill get an actual rebuild kit for the front and rear and install some SS brake lines (there is a local place that custom builds them for a very reasonable price, used them before for my cars) i did have the rear machined and now it feels like my bike has ABS on it when i press on the brake. i was just hopping to have a custom rotor made and call it a day with that. but i dont know of any places that can do that... any suggestions?
with the front ill probably end up going to a newer 4 pot calipers and bigger rotors, but not at the moment.
Nessism, thats why in my preveas post i was asking about a latter model computability between like an 83 GS750 rotor and a 78, if i could just swap a set of those, ill be happy for now :-D
