Tire age
I am replacing my 28 year old tires. Does anyone know what the maximum age for a NEW tire should be ?Old age and treachery will beat youth and skill every time1983 GS 750

5 years is the total life of the tire. They harden up with age and lose traction
New ones should be no more than a year old
Watch out for the discounted models -one member recently bought some that were 4 years old1978 GS 1000 (since new)
1979 GS 1000 (The Fridge, superbike replica project)
1978 GS 1000 (parts)
1981 GS 850 (anyone want a project?)
1981 GPZ 550 (backroad screamer)
1970 450 Mk IIID (THUMP!)
2007 DRz 400S
1999 ATK 490ES
1994 DR 350SES

I buy discounted tires from http://motorcyclesuperstore.com and I've never had a problem with them. The oldest tire has never been over a year old, and I wear them out in a year anyway.
