Bad idea! I bought some cheap to get me through the summer - they didn't make it through the first day before they started liberating their oil.

Looked into Progressive 12- or 14- series shocks and springs?

To paraphrase another member "They were originally designed for 110-lb. Japanese test riders. 30 years hasn't made them any better."

I've used stock shocks on most of my various GS bikes and they have been fine. Unless you are a heavyweight, the stock parts are decent enough assuming they are not worn out.
