I own a 78 gs550 and am trying to locate a front single caliper rebuild kit w/ piston and a master cylinder rebuilt kit and am having no luck. I just tore into both of these and am in need of these rebuild kits. I thought about buying an aftermarket mc but I don't know the bore size of the original. Thanks in advance.

You'll need the piston and cup set for the MC while getting a new set of seals and piston for the caliper. Your local shop can still get them.

With that said, if you have the round pads then I would consider finding a different caliper. Those pads are almost not available anymore from what I found out while the square/rectangle ones provide better stopping power.

Also, do a search for Salty_Monk's twinpot upgrade. I'm considering doing that later this winter.

The master cylinder kit is available from Suzuki - .PISTON & CUP SET P/N
59600-33810. There are a multitude of dealer/part sources that sell over the internet such as Part Shark and Bike Bandit, or you can order from your local dealer.

The caliper seals are likewise available from the same source. Unfortunately, they don't list the piston anymore. I have a few spare pistons so if you would measure your old one using a pair of calipers I could then see of one of mine will match up.

BTW, please change the rubber brake line while you are doing this work (Suzuki calls for changing them every two years). And take a close look in the master cylinder bore to make sure the metal is not pitted before you spend money on a kit.

I was going to run a braided line and was wondering if I could run a single line instead of the split line?

Wow, just checked the price on the mc rebuild kit and it's 42 bucks! But thank you guys for the help. I'm building a cafe by the way. It's on dotheton.
