What are these?

I noticed these the other day, never seen them on a bike before. They're on both sides of the fork, and are installed between the master cylinder and the calipers. Could they be heat exchangers?

See the silver fixture on the leading edge of the fork, opposite the caliper

Anti-dive units.Japanese get into jags about non problems,early 80's they tried to "fix" the fork dive on braking.

Those are anti-dive mechanisms that are designed to minimize the compression of the forks when braking.

When they actually work, they really only slow down the compression, but the idea is the same.

Could they cause some initial resistance on the lver upon braking? I feel like the MC "sticks" on rest and I want to address the issue before putting miles on the bike. Should I delete these entirely?

From the position of the oil ring on your fork tubes I would say they are not working anyhow. They will make the brake feek a little heavier.

Haven't actually tested them out, I bet you see that oil ring in that position because I had just trailered the bike, so the forks had been compressed

Would it be wise to delete? Maybe that's why I feel the front brakes are a little sticky when being applied (they feel fine on the rebound)

you can disconnect them completely and not notice any difference really.
