    shocker question

    Hi

Is it possible to strip and rechrome the spring type rear shock off a GS1000 ie the spring and complete damper?

You'll probably have to take it somewhere. I don't k ow how you'd get all the chrome off all the coils but a chrome shop could put it in a bath to de- chrome it then redo it.

Is it possible to restore the lower half of the shock?

Depends on the type but it's usually out of reach of the average DIY guy. Post your bike info and a pic of your shock/spring and sooner or later someone much smarter than me will help you out.

One other thing is, I guess the spring is chrome but is the top and bottom of the damper chrome or polished and if chrome can they be done as a whole damper or not?

I doubt whether anyone will take on chroming the damper (it is chromed). It's not rebuildable and the chrome plater boys will never put anything in their (expensive) tanks if it so much as contains a sniff of oil.

BTW, weren't you looking for some of these:

I was mate yeah the ones I got just need rechrome however to re chrome might cost more than £20 so thanks for that. I had found some shocks on ebay but they have been sprayed black and a bit rough so might keep looking....
