1984 gs1100gk rear brake not stopping

Hi ive had the 1984 gs1100gk for a year and the rear brake will not stop the bike new pads complete disassemble and clean when the pedal in pushed it will slow the bike down but to stop i have to use the front brake . My question is this just the big bike and a single disk or what do i need to fix it. This is my first bike this heavy but love it any help will be taken and retuned if i can tks randy

I recently had fork oil all over my front disks. Sprayed Brakeclean on them and followed the directions. Did the back disk just because the can was in my hand. Front brake was back to it's old self, and could lock up rear at low speeds. I only have a 750 but there is 280b.'s on top. Don't know that will help you ?

If the brakes are not working properly you should tear down the system and clean out all the gunk. Relube the sliding parts with caliper grease and change the brake lines. No short cuts allowed with brakes.

The front brakes are about 70% of the stopping power. You need to use the front brake correctly in order to stop any bike in a decent amount of time/distance.

I've spent lots of time and money to have the best front (and rear) brakes possible on my bikes, this is the RF900 setup on my '83 750.
