i recently had my speedo go out and was wondering if anyone knows what speedos and years will interchange with a 1981 gs 850g and also are the speedo on different sizes interchange? ebay has quite a few but not one is off a 81

Are you sure its the speedo? have you checked the speedo drive on the axle? What about the cable itself?? Take the cable off and remove the core from the bottom end and see if ts twisted bent or broke. With the front wheel just off the ground spin the wheel and see if the gaer drive is spinning. If it isnt then take off the wheel and look to see if the male drive with the two bent up tabs is flat and the tabs are interlocking right with the 2 notches on the rim...then try it again.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it. -
yes i checked out the cables and replaced the speedometer and when the cable is loose at the top and the front wheel spins free and the cable dosent move! and yes the ears are in proper position its the gear for certian!i just want to know what other models and years have the same type speedo?Comment
