thinking of lowering the back of my 850gl

just got this 850 gl its heavy as **** used to have a 400 cafe racer style. This bike feels like the cadillac of suzukii for its time the seat is like a comfy couch and rides pretty smooth. But im a small rider and need to have my feet planted for such a heavy bike. The seat i will change but was wondering if anyone has ever cut the springs on these bikes? can i take of 2 inches of the spring or am i better of just putting a straight bar in there and make it a hardtail. Is it worth it ? IM not concerned about ride quality cuz it just gunna be around town bike

You do know there are better ways to lower a bike properly other than cutting the spring or making it a hardtail...

I would start with lowered springs and shocks. Cost more than cut springs but it is the proper way to get the job done. some searching and you can prolly cross over some other part off of another bike if you cannot find ones to drop it low enough for you.

I constantly have to do similar when I get a 4X4 build finished after creating shock tabs and mounts and moving the wheelbase around extended shocks just plain dont work. I have to find my compressed and extended length and find something that works. I do this in case I tear one up I can gte one at the auto store VS having to order one in and wait a week.
