    Compatible Front Master Cylinder

Just wondering if this will work on a 79 gs850, i have been unable to find a rebuild kit for a 79, is it the same as the '80? or should i pick up this master cylinder?

or is this a better option?

The seal or something is gone in my current master cylinder as there is no resistance from the piston and it does not force fluid through

Is this a single or dual front caliper model? There should be a bore size stamped on the bottom of the master cylinder.

The first MC you linked to is a 12.7mm (1/2") bore. It would fit your bike (would have to modify the brake switch connection) but probably isn't what you want if you have dual front calipers. IIRC Suzuki used 14mm MCs for single and 5/8" (15.875mm) for dual caliper.

The factory parts are available part #1104333 at Bike Bandit. I would call Z1 Enterprises and see if they have it at a better price. If the cylinder is pitted it needs replacement. I think it is the same part as the GS1000. I haven't rebuilt the one on my sons' GS850G yet, but it looks the same as mine.

its a dual caliper bike, not sure of the size of cylinder ill have to check when i get home. Just looking for the cheapest way to get it working again.i think its just the piston that is not working for me, ill have to open it up tonight and take a look and post pictures.

All the duals are 5/8" bore. The master off a Kawasaki EX650 is a good fit, 5/8" bore, works well. Microswitch brake light connection (couple or thin spade connectors).

It also has a mirror mount that works with stock Suzuki mirrors & an adjustable lever.

Finally it doesn't look so modern that it sticks out like a sore thumb on our bikes...
