    GS1000 air forks

I'm hoping someone can help me with the forks on my GS/GSX hybrid. I tried to put air into them after replacing the badly pitted sliders and fork seals, but the blow gun I was using(attached to a modified propane tank low pressure air reseviour) was too big, I eventually got some in by wrapping PTFE plumbers tape around the bolt/valve holder but I just wondered if anyone out there had any better ideas. Thanks Johnny

Hi,You should use some kind of hand pump, like a bicycle pump because you only need around 12 psi/.09 Kg/cm2 of air pressure (standard).
Don't want to blow the seal by accident with air compressor .

There's a special pump for forks, looks like a syringe with a hose instead of a needle

Don't use air - it was a bad idea at the time and still is. Upgrade the springs instead (and if it's a tight budget there's a DIY method that works well).

Bike hand pump..and get a good digital air guage that will read low PSIs..As stated the factory spec is like 11 or 12 PSI.

You can either go with these:

              http://www.hagon-shocks.co.uk/catalog/partdetail.aspx?partno=400-091-02

or Google progressive fork springs and look what else is available.

Or, the DIY version, chop a few coils off your existing springs and replace with PVC pipe. No method that I know of to judge how much to chop off but trial and error to get what suits you.
