rear master cylinder...is it painted ?

    Hi

I am wondering if the rear master cylinder on my GS1000 is painted, powder coated or anidosed or is it black chrome?

I'm baffled cos mine has been painted with hammerrite of all things...

    Any ideas?

painted, a good soak in paint stripper will get it back to bare metal

Standard Suzuki paint on those is less than 1/1000th of an atom thick (or so it seems) and it's just alloy underneath. If it doesn't come off real easy then it's been redone.

Yep it seems but to repaint on alloy won't I need acid etch primer?

nope, just a good key and some decent primer and paint, heat resistant or not, its upto you. i used plastikote gloss black on mine and still looks good as new

Or...no primer, just PJ1 gloss black. Or leave it unpainted - the one on my S is just plain alloy (polished rough cast) and I quite like the way it looks.

I have been redoing my front master cyl. And calipers over the weekend. I used Ace appliance epoxy.
                Looks sharp!
