    sticking rear brake lever

    Hi,

    Just after some advice before i go all guns blazing on it.

    My new gs1000 has been staored for some time, the rear brakes is fine but once pressed stays on untill you lift it back up again.

    I will prob replacing the back brake pads, but just wondered is it just the brake need bleeding up, or is it just the spring hasnt got enough to lift it back up, its not hard to lift the lever up... not easy but not hard.

    Any help appreciated.

    Have you at least pulled the brake arm out of the frame and taken a wire wheel to the arm shaft and
    run some sand paper inside the tube in the frame and greased it?

      I would play safe with the brakes. Follow what Daniel suggests plus strip the whole caliper and master cylinder down and clean out all the crud as a minimum. You might need new seals / pistons etc - better to find that out in the garage than at 100 mph!

        Agreed -- the problem is corrosion and lack of lubrication where the pedal pivots in the frame. Very common and easy to fix.

          if it releases when manually lifting the pedal then yes, just strip out the pedal and clean up and grease the pivot
          1978 GS1085.
