    Rear shock Mod

Had this rear shock fabbed to fit my Honda VF1000R build I am doing and thought I would share. It is from a stock 05 CBR 600 with a replacement spring. Adds about 3/4 inch lift to the rear.

Upclose you can see where the CBR eye was notched for strength..

Those clevis legs look kind of spindly Joe. You sure they are strong enough? What material are they made from? 7075 or just 6061?

Ed, I thought the same but the guy has sold a bunch with great reviews, it is more rigid than it appears. It is 7075

OMG, that looks like an air shock. I replaced the air shock on my GPz with a fully adjustable Gixxer unit that also has a remote reservoir. Huge difference in the handling and feel.

I may reinforce the center of the lower mount, even though it is very rigid.

If it's a tried and true design Joe, you should be safe.

As far as the airshock is concern, air suspension was all the rage in the mid 1980's. I had a VF500 back then with air suspension, and even though that bike was softly sprung it handled great. Way beyond where I was capable of pushing it.

Had issues with the remote res intruding into the battery box so I went another direction.
