1978 upper tripple tree possible to flip?

Is it possible to flip the upper tree? I don't have any gauges or key so those aren't an issue. This should lower the front about 1" and move my clip ons up one 1" also.

Side note anyone know what the kind the aluminum is? I want to cut off the orginal tabs for the handle bars and weld on some plates so i don't lose the strenght.

The triple tree stem is recessed into the top, so I don't think a simple flip is possible

If you can weld the aluminium then I have heard of people chopping the clamps off a spare triple & welding below the original so that they can lower the forks using the new lower set of clamps...

Ok i want to go the other direction to lower the bike not raise it, but it does confirm that the aluminum is a decent material.

Last hurdle is that tree is recessed.

Will the fork slam into the lower tree? Anyone know how close the suspension comes to the lower tree?

You could just let the tubes come up through the yokes by an inch.
